Cuphead ‘The Delicious Last Course’ pushed back to 2021

Cuphead is one of the best indie games to release during this current console generation, starting off as an Xbox One/PC exclusive and eventually transitioning to PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Studio MDHR are still working on the game now all these years later, but the upcoming expansion is going to be releasing later than planned.

Studio MDHR, the team behind Cuphead, announced this week that its upcoming DLC, The Delicious Last Course, will no longer be releasing in 2020. Unsurprisingly, this delay is partially due to the COVID-19 pandemic:

“Meeting this standard has been extremely challenging for us amid the global pandemic that has affected so many of our fellow developers”, the studio said. “Rather than compromise on our vision in response to COVID, we've made the difficult decision to push back the release of The Delicious Last Course until we are confident it will delight the Cuphead community the way we feel it should.”

This isn't the first time that this expansion has been delayed unfortunately. It was originally announced in 2018, a year after the game first came out. It missed its initial 2019 launch window and was then expected in 2020. Now, a 2021 release date is the new target.

KitGuru Says: Cuphead itself took a long time to make but the end result was fantastic. With that in mind, it makes sense for Studio MDHR to take all the time it needs to complete this last piece of content.
