Death Stranding crosses over with Cyberpunk 2077

In recent years we have seen a number of video game titles crossover with each other, adding easter eggs and more into their respective games. Following on from the Cyberpunk 2077 Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech car being added into Forza Horizon 4, Death Stranding has now received an update adding a number of new cosmetics and even game altering mechanics to the game.

This update, which is currently exclusive to the PC version of Death Stranding, adds a number of cosmetic items, including the Akira inspired ‘Yaiba Kusanagi CT3-H’, Johnny Silverhand’s sunglasses and cybernetic arm as well as V’s face implants.

These additions aren't only cosmetic however, as a number of these items actually include gameplay altering mechanics. Johnny Silverhand’s arm comes with increased damage, and Sam Bridges can now hack into items, disabling enemy sensor poles, and can short-circuit Odradeks and trucks. In celebration of this collaboration, Death Stranding is currently 50% off on both the Epic Games Store and Steam.

Without spoiling anything, Cyberpunk 2077 includes a few easter eggs and nods to Death Stranding, and so it is nice to see Hideo Kojima returning the favour via a free patch. It is curious to see the update only come to PC however, especially considering the game was released first on PS4. Hopefully the update will also come to console eventually. The Death Standing x Cyberpunk 2077 update is live right now.
