Ever since it was first announced, fans have been eagerly anticipating the opening of Nintendo’s first theme park, dubbed ‘Super Nintendo World’. Despite the current global circumstances, it would seem that the theme park is now complete and ready to open, as it has been announced that Super Nintendo World will be opening on the 4th of February 2021.
In an announcement by Universal Studios, which has partnered with Nintendo for the theme park, the Super Nintendo World zone at Universal Studios Japan will be opening on the 4th of February 2021.
Alongside the announcement was a trailer for the park, which showed off just how much work was put into Super Nintendo World, including moving Thwomps, rotating gold coins and more. The park will also feature the “world’s first interactive Mario Kart theme park ride” which is said to “immerse guests into the universe of Nintendo.”
Of course, as mentioned, the world is currently going through a global pandemic, and so it’ll be interesting to see how the park will operate in the wake of this. If Japan is too far away to travel to, Nintendo previously announced its intentions to open more Super Nintendo World parks following on from its Japanese launch.
Currently, there are plans for a park to open in Singapore as well as the USA, though no dates have been given for either. With how Nintendo has always made ‘fun’ a core tenet of its games, hopefully the same ideology translates to the new parks.
