Ubisoft has been supporting free current-gen to next-gen upgrades on its games this holiday season but unfortunately, the system seems to be having some issues on PlayStation. Since the PS5’s release in the UK, some users have found that they are missing the PS5 version of games like Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are both included in Ubisoft’s next-gen upgrade scheme, so anyone who bought either game on PS4 should have access to the PS5 version once they get the console. Unfortunately, some early PS5 adopters have not been able to access a PS5 version of the game. Ubisoft confirmed it was investigating the issue last week but unfortunately, there is no fix in sight just yet.
We are aware players in the UK are experiencing issues upgrading physical versions of some Ubisoft games from PS4 to PS5. We're working to resolve this, and can confirm anyone experiencing this issue will still be eligible for their free upgrade. Stay tuned for more information.

The above tweet comes from Ubisoft this week, as complaints from early PS5 buyers continued to pile up. At this stage, Ubisoft is still investigating the issue and promises to make things right, but there is no timeline yet.
This can be frustrating for buyers, particularly if they bought the physical version of a game on PS4, expecting the PS5 upgrade when inserting the disc into the new console. There is one troubleshooting method that those affected can try in the meantime though – insert an eligible PS4 disc into a PS5 console, select ‘View Product’ on the game hub, click ‘review the upgrade offer’ and download the PS5 version that way.
You do need to keep the PS4 disc inserted while playing the upgraded PS5 version on the new console though.
KitGuru Says: It's a shame that Ubisoft doesn't have a fix for this yet but hopefully it won't be too far off. Have any of you bought a PS5 already? Have you had any issues upgrading PS4 games to the PS5 version?
