Mad Catz launches R.A.T. DWS gaming mouse with faster mechanical switches

It has been a couple of years since Mad Catz returned to the peripheral scene and for 2021, it looks like we can expect a new flagship gaming mouse from the company. Today, Mad Catz is launching the R.A.T. DWS Gaming Mouse, featuring dual wireless connectivity and interestingly, mechanical mouse switches that are tipped to be 60% more responsive than traditional mouse switches.

The R.A.T. DWS comes with a PAW3335DB optical sensor for the best possible tracking but the true star of the show is the Mad Catz DAKOTA mechanical switch. Traditional mouse switches are triggered when a spring hits a metal contact and then applies a debounce delay algorithm to avoid registering multiple clicks. Mad Catz claims the DAKOTA mechanical switch overcomes this with a new signal detection technology, enabling instant response between two contact points. Signal registration is processed and accelerates the switch response time to within 2ms, which is said to be 60 percent faster than other mechanical mouse switches.

In terms of wireless connectivity, the R.A.T. DWS is equipped with both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 connections. In 2.4GHz wireless mode you will get swifter 1ms response times, while Bluetooth 5.0 mode is capable of sustaining longer battery life. According to Mad Catz, a single AA battery should get you up to 300 hours of wireless usage while using Bluetooth.

The Mad Catz R.A.T. DWS will be shipping from early February 2021. Pricing and regional availability details will be made clear at that time.
