Samsung will announce 10 new OLED displays for laptops at CES 2021

Samsung is planning to release 10x new OLED displays for laptops during 2021. These Samsung OLED displays will range from 13.3-inches to 16-inches in size and should appear on a number of laptops from OEMs throughout the year.

According to ComputerBase, the first laptops using Samsung's new OLED displays will be available in February. The first wave of displays will feature a FullHD resolution and 15.6-inches in size, offering lower resolution OLED panels in a laptop market that features multiple 4K OLED laptop options, but FullHD ones are harder to come by. Lower resolution OLED panels should be cheaper, therefore increasing the market share and popularity of these displays. Potential clients include the likes of Dell, Asus, and Lenovo.

Some specifications of these displays were already shared, and as expected, the contrast ratio is very high, reaching up to 1000000:1 thanks to the minimum brightness of 0.0005nits. The upcoming Samsung OLED displays will cover 120% of the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut and cover up to 85% of the HDR spectrum. Response times and refresh rate were not detailed.

Samsung isn't the only one showing new OLED displays at CES 2021. LG is also showing a 48-inch OLED flexible gaming display that bends for a more immersive experience. CES 2021 kicks off digitally on the 11th of January.

KitGuru says: What do you think about OLED displays? Given the static nature of some PC applications, do you think burn-in will be an issue?
