Apple reportedly testing two foldable iPhone designs

The year is starting off strong with new iPhone rumours. This time around, sources indicate that we'll finally be seeing a foldable iPhone quite soon, with Apple currently planning two different models to combat Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip line-up.

According to Economic Daily News, an outlet with sources in Apple's supply chain, Apple is developing two new foldable devices, one with a dual-screen design similarly to the Microsoft Surface Duo and another with a single foldable display, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

Apple is reportedly testing both models currently at Foxconn to check the durability of the hinge, which is particularly important for foldable phones. As we saw with Samsung's original attempt at the Galaxy Fold, getting the hinge wrong can spell for a disastrous launch.

We won't be getting the first foldable iPhone or iPad this year though. Apparently, these products are planned for a 2022 launch.

KitGuru Says: The Galaxy Z Flip is particularly impressive to me, so it will be interesting to see how well Apple tackles the foldable phone concept and what multi-tasking/productivity features it brings to iOS in order to better take advantage of the new hardware form-factor. What do you all think of foldable phones?
