Remedy Entertainment announced that it would be bringing enhancements to Control: Ultimate Edition for next-gen consoles earlier this year. Unfortunately, the upgrade was pushed out of 2020 and into 2021. However, we do get our first look at the upgrade today thanks to a new teaser video.
Control: Ultimate Edition contains the base game, all patches and both DLC expansion packs. In a controversial move, base game and season pass owners of the original release of Control are not eligible for the next-gen upgrade.
In the teaser video above, we get a quick look at what to expect. Some of the enhancements coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 include new performance and graphics modes. In performance mode, you'll get 60 frames per second. Meanwhile in graphical mode, you'll get a big visual boost.
One of the big pieces to this visual upgrade is the addition of ray-tracing on next-gen consoles. Previously, this was a PC-only feature. The next-gen upgrade for Control Ultimate Edition will come to Xbox Series consoles and PS5 on the 2nd of February.
KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to revisit Control on next-gen consoles, I'm particularly interested in seeing comparisons between ray-tracing on consoles and the PC version. Are any of you planning on playing Control on a next-gen console?
