Ever since its official reveal at the PlayStation conference in June 2020, fans have been eagerly anticipating more news on the latest entry in the long running survival horror franchise: Resident Evil Village. Aside from a few trailers and a vague release year, little is known about the game currently. This is set to change with a Resident Evil showcase announced for the 21st of January.
Making the announcement on Twitter, Capcom said “Don’t miss the Resident Evil Showcase on January 21st at 10pm GMT! Join Brittney Brombacher on a guided tour of Resident Evil Village, including a new trailer, first-ever gameplay, and lots more Resident Evil news!”

Alongside the announcement for this showcase, Capcom is allowing fans the opportunity to take part in a closed beta test “celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Resident Evil!” – though exact details on what the beta will be for is currently unknown, aside from it being a multiplayer experience set in the world of Resident Evil.
Ever since its reinvention with Resident Evil VII, and following it up with the remakes for RE2 and RE3, Capcom has been riding on a high with the Resident Evil franchise (even if RE3 was considered a step down from the previous entry). Hopefully the series manages to continue its current streak with Resident Evil Village and whatever else Capcom has planned.
