This foldable keyboard is hiding a full-fledged PC under the hood

Ling Long has recently introduced an interesting system – a mini PC integrated within a foldable keyboard. This device was showcased in a live demonstration on Bilibili, where the presenter surprised the audience by unveiling the compact gadget from his back pocket.

This unique gadget shared by Tom's Hardware and PC Watch seems tailored for the niche segment of office workers who frequently transport their portable PCs to and from work. Instead of lugging around a traditional laptop, individuals can opt for this mini keyboard PC, which measures a mere 150x100mm and weighs 800g. For added convenience, the keyboard PC has a built-in battery and a touchpad.

Under the hood, the Ling Long keyboard is powered by an 8C/16T AMD Ryzen 7 8840U APU featuring a Radeon 780M GPU. These specifications align it closely with the capabilities of the ROG Ally X, allowing it to operate efficiently in 30W mode while effectively dissipating heat, with the motherboard area maintaining a temperature below 42°C under load. Moreover, consumers can select between 16GB and 32GB of DDR5 RAM and 512GB or 1TB of storage.

Despite its compact form, this keyboard-turned-PC does not compromise on essential connectivity options, featuring USB 4, USB-A 3.0, and USB-C 3.2 ports (PC Watch claims it's USB-C 3.1) and WiFi 6 support. Furthermore, the device is equipped with a 60Wh battery, capable of delivering up to 10 hours of office usage, 6 hours of entertainment, or 4 hours of gaming. The keyboard PC comes bundled with a 100W GaN charger. Pricing points also differ slightly, with Tom's Hardware claiming it will vary between CNY 2,999 (£322) and CNY 3,599 (€387), while PC Watch states it will be around CNY 4,699 (£505).

KitGuru says: I doubt we'll suddenly see a ton of PC keyboards hitting the market due to the niche nature of such a device. Still, it is certainly interesting to see a company try this idea out.
