Rainbow Six Siege to get crossplay and cross-progression

Late last year, Ubisoft Connect officially launched, a new way for Ubisoft to allow cross-platform multiplayer and cross-progression for all new games. Soon, Rainbow Six Siege will be getting these features, although crossplay between consoles and PC is unlikely.

Speaking with PCGamer during a recent event, Rainbow Six Siege director, Jean-Baptiste Halle, confirmed that the team is “actively working on cross-progression and crossplay”. Although crossplay is likely going to be limited to Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

“Within the realm of consoles, I think it would be great if PlayStation and Xbox could play together”, Halle said. Although he later added that he was “sceptical” on the idea of linking consoles with PC players.

The main concern is the advantage of gamepads versus keyboard/mice setups, as PC players can generally react faster and be more precise. Rainbow Six Siege doesn't offer aim assist on consoles either, which helps bridge the skill gap in some other crossplay titles, like Call of Duty.

KitGuru Says: Do any of you switch between platforms for Rainbow Six Siege? Would you like to see cross-progression added soon?
