As the launch of Alder Lake processors comes closer, there has been an increase in the number of benchmark database entries for these CPUs. The latest Alder Lake-S leak comes via Geekbench 4, showing the performance of a 16C/24T processor.
First of all, unlike SiSoftware Sandra, Geekbench 4 hasn't yet received a patch adding support for Intel hybrid architectures, consisting of big cores with hyper-threading and small cores with a single thread. This explains the maximum frequency of 27.2GHz displayed in the Geekbench 4 entry, which is a typo.
This entry features the Alder Lake-S processor with the highest base frequency until now. In the entries we shared of such processors on SiSoftware Sandra and Geekbench 5 databases, the processors were running at a base frequency of 1.4GHz. Then, it increased to 1.8GHz in a second SiSoftware Sandra entry. On this one, the base frequency is set at 2.2GHz.
Paired with 32GB of DDR5 memory, this Alder Lake-S processor scored 6,536 points in the single-core test, placing it between the Core i9-9900K and the Core i9-10900K. In the multi-core test, with a score of 47,870, this processor outperforms both Intel Core i9-9900K and i9-10900K. Considering that this is most likely an engineering sample, these results are already fairly promising.
