Nintendo will pull Super Mario 35th Anniversary games from sale this month

Last year, Nintendo celebrated Super Mario's 35th anniversary with the release of Super Mario 3D All Stars and Super Mario Bros. 35. We knew at the time that Nintendo planned to pull these games from sale eventually, but many had hoped they'd change their mind. We're now in March and as planned, Nintendo will still be pulling these games from sale at the end of the month.

In a reminder post published on Nintendo's Japanese website, the company confirms that it will no longer be selling the Super Mario 3D collection for Nintendo Switch later this month. Both the physical version of the game and the digital download version will no longer be available for sale after this date. Of course, that is unless retailers have some left over physical stock, but eventually, the game will be completely sold out and no more units will be produced.

In addition, Nintendo is also pulling Super Mario Bros. 35, which took inspiration from Tetris 99, putting 35 players against each other to compete across Super Mario Bros courses. The download, which was a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber exclusive, will be pulled from the Nintendo Switch eShop on the 31st of March at 23:59 PM. Servers for the game will also go offline, so it will no longer be playable by those who downloaded it before March 31st.

A few other physical items are also being discontinued at the end of this month, including the ‘Game & Watch' mini console with Super Mario Bros. installed, and several limited edition mech items, including t-shirts.

KitGuru Says: It is going to be a shame to see these games go away, but Nintendo will likely pull them back out of the vault eventually. Hopefully Nintendo has a more permanent plan in place for games released for Zelda's 35th Anniversary.
