MSI launching updated RTX 3080 Gaming Trio graphics cards

MSI has added a couple of new RTX 3080 Gaming Trio graphics cards to its portfolio. No major aesthetic changes have been made, but the new design appears to be less bulky and some small tweaks have also been made to the backplate. Aside from that, one of these revisions is also set to overtake the RTX 3080 Gaming Trio X with a higher factory overclock.

The first new card is the MSI RTX 3080 Gaming Trio Plus, which shares the same specifications as the current RTX 3080 Gaming Trio, indicating that the Plus unit will replace the original Trio at some point. The RTX 3080 Gaming Trio Plus comes with a base/boost clock of 1440MHz/1755MHz, 19Gbps memory, a 340W TDP and the Tri Frozr 2 cooler.

The MSI RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio card is a bit more interesting, as it has a higher clock speed and TDP than the Gaming X Trio, which is currently MSI's top-end ‘Gaming' series RTX 3080. The RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio has a boost clock speed of 1830MHz and a TDP of 370W, which is a 15MHz improvement over the Gaming X, while adding an extra 30W to the TDP.

While those small tweaks have been made, the base clock for the RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio remains at 1440MHz and memory speed remains clocked at 19Gbps. Pricing and availability for these revised graphics cards has not been announced yet.

KitGuru says: It looks like we'll have some slightly newer Gaming series MSI RTX 3080 graphics cards in the near future. Hopefully we'll see these in the hands of gamers in the months to come rather than scalpers.
