Nintendo had some major reveals in store for us during today's Direct showcase. Not only did we get our first real look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but a new Zelda game was announced. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be a more traditional Zelda game, borrowing the same art style as the Link's Awakening remake on Nintendo Switch.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a new game in the franchise but its key standout feature is that rather than playing as Link, players will actually take on the role of Princess Zelda herself. Zelda will be the one in charge of saving Hyrule in this new adventure, as Link has mysteriously disappeared.
Zelda will have some different abilities to Link. Some of the Tears of the Kingdom crafting mechanics will be making an appearance. For instance, Zelda will be able to craft boxes, tables and other objects to help overcome obstacles. You can also use spells to drop in items to distract enemies, allowing you to move through an area. Alternatively, you can also drop in a creature of your own to defeat those enemies while they are distracted.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is launching for Nintendo Switch on the 26th of September.
KitGuru Says: I much prefer these classic-feeling Zelda games to the massive open worlds of the newer titles, so I'll be picking this one up for sure. Will any of you be diving into Echoes of Wisdom later this year?
