Steam Remote Play Together update allows players to join without a Steam account

Valve is making Steam's Remote Play Together feature more accessible this year. As part of the most recent Steam Client beta update, Play Together can be used without a Steam account, requiring just a link invite from the host to join a game.

For those who don't know, Remote Play Together is a feature Valve first introduced to Steam in 2019. It allows a local-multiplayer game to be played over the web, with the game being streamed from the host's PC to other participants. Other players don't need to own a game to join a remote play session, but until now, they did need a Steam account.

By creating a link to join function for Steam Remote Play Together sessions, people without a Steam account can join sessions, although they will need to download the Steam Link app.

This is similar to Parsec's arcade function, which allows other users to join a host session with a URL. Currently in Steam Remote Play Together, only one person can be invited to a session via the link, while other players will have to be invited via your Steam friends list.

KitGuru Says: How many of you have used Remote Play Together to play a multiplayer game with friends over the last year? What do you think of the new update?
