Intel has released its new generation of mainstream NVMe M.2 SSDs – the Intel SSD 670p, featuring 144-layer 3D QLC NAND and available in capacities up to 2TB.
Available with 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities, the Intel SSD 670p series is based on 144-layer 3D QLC NAND flash memory. All models use a rebranded Silicon Motion SM2265G 8-channel controller and come with 256MB of DDR3L cache memory. Some features supported by these SSDs include AES 256-bit hardware encryption, Intel Smart Response Technology, Intel Rapid Start Technology, and end-to-end data protection.
The Intel SSD 670p series offers sequential read speeds of up to 3500MB/s on the 1TB and 2TB models and 3000MB/s on the 512GB models. Sequential write speeds also differ depending on the model, with the 2TB model reaching up to 2700MB/s, the 1TB model up to 2500MB/s, and the 512GB model up to 1600MB/s.
Compared to other QLC-based SSDs, the Intel SSD 670p models have a significantly higher endurance rating. The 2TB variant is rated for 740TBW, the 1TB for 370TBW, and the 512GB model for 185TBW. All variants have a rated MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) of 1.6M hours.
The Intel SSD 670p drives are available now starting at $89 for the 512GB model, $154 for the 1TB model, and $329 for the 2TB model. All drives are backed by a 5-year warranty. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.
