AOC expands into PC gaming peripherals with two affordable headsets

While we all know AOC for its gaming monitors, the company is hoping to expand its reach a bit further this year. This week, AOC announced that it is getting into the PC gaming peripheral market, starting off with two affordable headsets.

The first headset is the AOC GH200, which uses a sleek and lightweight chassis, foam cushioning, a detachable microphone and 50mm neodymium drivers inside the ear cups. This headset is the cheaper of the two, coming with a gunmetal finish, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a 2 meter braided cable. The headset also comes with a Y-splitter, so microphone and headphone outputs can be split if needed. While this headset doesn't ship with a 7.1 virtual surround sound solution, users can install Windows Sonic or something like Dolby Atmos for Headphones to gain spatial audio.

The GH300 is the higher-end of these two headsets, but it still comes in at a reasonable, sub-£50 price tag. Featuring the same overall design and build materials as the GH200, this headset kicks things up a notch with 7.1 virtual surround sound and USB instead of a 3.5mm headphone jack and RGB lighting. The GH300 also comes with a red finish rather than gunmetal.

The same drivers are used in both headsets, offering 20Hz to 20KHz frequency response with an impedance of 32 Ohms. The microphone is also the same across both headsets, offering a frequency range of 100Hz to 10KHz, omnidirectional sound pick-up and an LED to let you know when the microphone is muted.

The AOC GH200 gaming headset will be available starting in May 2021, priced at £39 in the UK. The GH300 is launching at the same time, with a slightly higher £49 price tag.

KitGuru Says: AOC is expanding into PC peripherals for the first time, so it will be interesting to see these first two products in action and how they compare to the competition. What do you all think of AOC's first step into peripherals with the GH200 and GH300 headsets?
