Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, E3 was cancelled last year and most major publishers began exploring hosting their own digital events as an alternative. Square Enix is the latest to do this, with the publisher announcing today that it will be hosting its first “Square Enix Presents” digital showcase next week.
On the 18th of March at 6PM GMT, Square Enix Presents will air, bringing us news and updates on a bunch of games. The headliner for the first stream will be a reveal for the next Life is Strange game.
The show will also include updates on Marvel's Avengers, Balan Wonderworld and Outriders. There are likely a few surprises in store too, as the show will be 40 minutes long, indicating that we'll be getting substantial news.
Square Enix is just the latest company to begin streaming its own digital events. Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony and there is reason to believe that Bandai Namco is also going to follow the same route soon.
KitGuru Says: Square Enix owns some of the biggest IP in gaming, so a solo digital showcase makes a lot of sense. Hopefully we'll start to hear about more game announcement streams soon.
