Mushkin launches Delta and Gamma series PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs

Mushkin is in the headlines this week with two new SSD lines. With its Gamma series, Mushkin is the latest storage manufacturer launching PCIe 4.0 SSDs with maximum read speeds above 7,000MB/s. Additionally, the company also launched the Delta SSD series, offering a supposedly cheaper PCIe 4.0 SSD solution while keeping the same performance expected from those drives.

The new Mushkin Delta SSD series includes three storage capacities: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. Featuring Phison's E16 controller, the Mushkin Delta SSDs delivers a sequential read speed of up to 4,975MB/s and a sequential write speed of 3975 MB/s. As for 4K Random read/write speeds, it can reach up to 700,000/650,000 IOPS.

Mushkin Delta SSDs come with Mushkin Enhanced Data Protection Suite (M.E.D.S), featuring 4th gen LDPC ECC for data correction, End-to-End data path protection, SmartECC, temperature monitoring, multiple hardware encryption standards, and enhanced power management. The Delta SSDs have an MTBF of 1.8M hours, up to 800TBW of endurance, and a 5-year warranty.

Powered by the Phison E18 controller, the Mushkin Gamma SSDs can reach read/write speeds of 7,175MB/s and 6,800MB/s respectively. Unlike the Delta series, the Gamma SSDs are only available in 1TB and 2TB capacities. 4K Random read/write speeds are slightly inferior compared to the Delta SSDs, offering up to 640,000/630,000 IOPS.

The Mushkin Gamma series also features M.E.D.S and is backed by a 5-year warranty. MTBF is 200,000 hours less than the Delta SSDs, set at 1.6M hours, but endurance is significantly higher, at up to 1,400TBW.

KitGuru says: Both the Delta and Gamma SSDs look like winners on paper, but it all comes down to pricing. Hopefully we'll see these popping up on the UK market in the weeks to come.
