One of the benefits to owning a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X is that many older titles are being updated with improved framerates on these systems. Unlike the previous generation, most of these pseudo-remasters are being offered for free. Such is the case with The Outer Worlds, which is now playable at 60fps on PS5 and Series X.
Ahead of the game's next DLC drop, which arrives on the 17th of March, Obsidian Entertainment released Patch 1.7 for The Outer Worlds. A surprise addition as part of this patch was the fact that on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the game now runs at 60fps, instead of 30.
This makes The Outer Worlds the latest in a long list of games which have seen their frame rates doubled thanks to the power of the new consoles. Some of the other titles to have received such an update include God of War, Gears 5, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, and many more.

Additionally, Xbox recently added a number of Bethesda games to its list of FPS Boosted titles, including Skyrim, Fallout 4, Fallout 76 and more. All of these updates are seemingly helping to justify the cost of getting a new console during its early life, when next-gen games are still relatively sparse in release.
Releasing this update for free is a consumer friendly move which hopefully more developers will follow in the near future.
