Gothic Remake gets new screenshots and a new studio

Back in late 2019, THQ Nordic released a surprise demo for a Gothic remake. The demo quickly garnered interest and in early 2020, THQ Nordic committed to delivering a full version of the Gothic remake. Things have been quiet since then, but progress is being made, with new screenshots now released.

Over 180,000 people played the original Gothic remake demo, which is still available to play on Steam now. The remake is being developed by Alkimia Interactive, a small, recently founded studio based on Barcelona, Spain. Currently, the team is hiring for multiple positions, presumably to work on this very project, so it could be a while before we get a release date.

As you can see in the gallery above, new screenshots for the remake have been released, giving us a good look at what to expect in terms of revamped graphical fidelity. Gothic Remake also has a Steam Store page now, indicating that more news is coming soon.

Gothic Remake is being built for PC and next-gen consoles. Players can expect a faithful remake, but some changes will of course be made. For instance, the combat system is being ‘modernised' alongside the game's visuals.

KitGuru Says: We should hear more about the Gothic Remake soon. Did any of you play the original version of Gothic? Are you looking forward to the remake?
