Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti rumoured to launch with 8GB and 16GB variants

With the alleged release date of the Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti coming closer, a new report suggests that this graphics card will come in two variants, giving customers the option of a cheaper 8GB SKU, or a more expensive 16GB version. 

According to Uniko's Hardware, the RTX 3070 Ti will be based on the GA104-400-A1 GPU and split between two SKUs using Micron GDDR6X memory clocked at up to 19Gbps. One will come with 8GB of VRAM, while the other will offer 16GB of memory.

This is a tactic we've seen before, usually with splits between 3GB and 6GB or 4GB and 8GB. By releasing a  16GB RTX 3070 Ti, Nvidia would match the Radeon RX 6800 series' memory buffer. Assuming the card ships with a fully enabled GA104 GPU, we should also expect competitive performance up against the RX 6800 as well.

Nvidia has yet to officially announce the RTX 3070 Ti, but according to Videocardz, we can expect 6,144 CUDA cores, 48 RT cores, 192 Tensor Cores and of course, either 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6X memory across a 256-bit bus. We would also expect this card to ship with Nvidia's mining limiter in place.
