Machenike’s new KT84 mechanical keyboard hit its crowdfunding goal in just 14 minutes

The Machenike KT84, an 84-key mechanical keyboard with some cool features, was funded on Kickstarter in a mere 14 minutes, an impressive feat for a small keyboard brand. Since then, the project has gone on to achieve 470% of its funding goal. 

The KT84's unique dual-screen design is its main selling point. It comprises a 490-dot pixel matrix in the top row and a 1.47-inch TFT LCD display in the top-right corner. The customisable pixel matrix supports static or animated visuals, while the corner screen offers diverse functionalities such as displaying hardware temperatures, a clock, RGB settings, and more.

In addition, the keyboard incorporates a side-mounted volume roller/button and a convenient toggle switch in the top-right corner, providing quick access to tab and window management. Available in black or white, the KT84 features a solid black frame or a transparent see-through casing, complemented by transparent keycaps and Gateron North Pole 2.0 Yellow or White switches, known for their quiet and linear operation with varying activation forces. Alternatively, you can replace the switches with others, as the keyboard is hot-swappable.

Now available for pre-order on Kickstarter starting at $199 in the Super Early Bird tier, the KT84's price will increase as the campaign progresses, reaching a final MSRP of $249. For an additional $20, users can opt for a palm rest. It's worth noting that while Machenike has a solid track record with prior successful Kickstarter campaigns and a decade of experience in producing PCs, laptops, monitors and peripherals, backing a crowdfunded project always carries risks.
