Despite their often poor critical reception, Capcom is continuing to pump out more live action Resident Evil projects. According to a new report, the publisher is going all-out, producing both a new theatrical film as well as a Netflix series.
As reported by GeekVibesNation, Constantin Film is currently working on two separate live-action Resident Evil Projects.
The film is said to be a prequel to 2021’s ‘Welcome to Racoon City’ and will be inspired by the game Resident Evil 0 specifically. The 2025 film is said to be “[staying] true to the game’s narrative” – so we will have to wait and see what fans of RE:0 think.
The Netflix show meanwhile will not follow on from any previous game or adaptation, instead opting to tell a standalone story across 6 episodes – focused on Sophie Marcus, “the daughter of a significant figure”. No release date/year has been given, though filming is expected to start in 2025.
Unlike the Resident Evil games – which have been solid for the past decade – we’ll have to wait and see how both these live-action adaptations pan out.
