Acer announces Predator memory modules and M.2 NVMe SSD

Acer is getting into memory and SSDs, teaming up with Biwin to produce Predator-branded RAM modules and M.2 SSDs. Through this partnership, we'll see Acer Predator Apollo and Talos memory modules, as well as the GM3500 M.2 SSD.

We'll start off with the SSD. The new Predator GM3500 uses a PCIe Gen 3×4 interface and NVMe to achieve sequential read/write speeds of 3000MB/s and 3400MB/s respectively. While it doesn't match up with PCIe 4.0 solutions, it is a huge upgrade over traditional SATA SSD speeds.

Acer has also announced Predator Apollo and Predator Talos memory modules. The Talos memory series features a black and white heatsink design with the Predator logo in the centre. It is built using 8-layer PCBs and low latency timings.

Meanwhile, the Acer Predator Apollo memory series is the higher-end option, featuring a 10-layer PCB, an aluminium heatsink with RGB lighting, 15μm gold-plated contacts, and high-quality B-die memory chips, which are traditionally better for overclocking and reaching higher speeds.

KitGuru says: With the growth of the DIY PC market, even companies mostly known for pre-built PCs are turning their attention to the individual component market. Would you consider Acer's new Predator memory or SSD for your own build?
