We've known for a while now that a new BioShock game is in the works and now thanks to some new job listings, we have some new details on what to expect. Currently, it looks like BioShock 4 is going to be an open world game with a less linear approach compared to the original trilogy.
Cloud Chamber, the studio behind the next BioShock, posted a handful of new job listings on its website this week. The descriptions reveal that the team is looking for side-quest and open-world experts, confirming a new direction for the franchise.
“We’re hoping to find someone who can weave impactful, character-driven stories in an open world setting”, a description for a senior writing position reads. There is also mention of “primary and secondary mission content”, confirming side missions in addition to the main quest. Another listing for an AI programmer role reveals that the team is hoping to “push the envelope of what is possible with interactive crowd systems”.
BioShock 4 will also be utilising Epic's Unreal Engine 4. Unfortunately, that is all the information we have for the time being but hopefully we'll get some official news soon.

KitGuru Says: Nowadays, the open-world segment is very saturated so hopefully they can do something unique with this setting for BioShock. What do you think of this new direction for the BioShock series? Do you prefer open-world games?
