Intel Tiger Lake-H45 leak reveals specs for upcoming processors

An Intel slide presentation regarding upcoming Tiger Lake-H45 laptop processors appears to have leaked online. The slides reveal specifications and the announcement date for the remaining Intel 11th Gen Core laptop series of CPUs, with the flagship chip sporting eight cores and a 5GHz boost clock speed.

The slides, which were shared by HD Tecnologia, show that the new Core i5 and i7 11th Gen Core SKUs will be used on “essential” gaming laptops, while Core i7 and i9 will be aimed at “thin” and “halo” enthusiast-grade gaming laptops. The new processors will be based on the 10nm SuperFin architecture and feature Willow Cove cores. Other features that Tiger Lake-H brings to the mobile platform include support for PCIe 4.0, Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6, and Optane H20 memory, Xe-Graphics iGPUs with up to 32 EUs, and unlocked SKUs capable of overclocking.

The flagship processor is the Core i9-11980HK with overclocking support. Enthusiasts can tweak the processor using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU), while less-experienced users may prefer Intel speed Optimizer for easy overclocking. With a 2.6GHz base clock and a boost clock of up to 5.0GHz using Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 (ITBM 3.0), this processor was designed to deliver high frame rate gaming at 1080p and 4K.

Besides the series flagship, the line-up also includes two other 8-core parts with slightly lower clocks: the Core i9-11900H and the Core i7-11800H. The Tiger Lake-H45 line-up also includes the 6C/12T i5-11400H and 6C/12T i5-11260H. Although not mentioned in the slides, rumours point to the existence of the 8-core Core i9-11950H and the 6-core Core i5-11600H.

There's also a slide comparing the Core i5-11400H performance to that of the Ryzen 9 5900HS. Both test systems use an RTX 3060 MaxQ, but the TDP was different on each machine – 65W for Intel and 80W on AMD. Despite the difference in TDP and the lower core count, the slide shows that the Intel laptop outperforms the AMD system by up to 12% in 4 out of seven games and loses in the remaining 3 games by up to 3%.

According to these leaked slides, Intel will be announcing Tiger Lake-H45 CPUs on the 11th of May. Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: If you are looking for a new laptop, it may be better to wait for the release of new systems powered by Intel upcoming Tiger Lake processors. It's still too soon to know how they will fare against the Ryzen 5000H series, but the early benchmark results show some promise.
