Bungie accidentally enables Destiny 2 cross-play, will disable again later this week

If you've logged into Destiny 2 within the last 24 hours, then you may have noticed that Bungie went live with PC and console cross-play. Unfortunately, the feature wasn't supposed to go live yet and as a result, it is being disabled.

After seeing social media buzz about cross-play being live in Destiny 2, the game's community manager, Cozmo, explained that this was an accidental “sneak peek” at what's to come.

Bungie first promised cross-play for Destiny 2 last year, with plans to implement it in 2021. Apparently, the version that went live last night is “not representative of the full experience” and a fix will be pushed out to disable the feature.

As for when cross-play will officially come, that has yet to be announced. After this week's blunder though, Bungie will hopefully be fast tracking a proper announcement.

KitGuru Says: Now that there is no platform restricted content in Destiny, adding cross-play makes perfect sense. Hopefully the feature will be re-enabled and roll out fully soon.
