Pacific Drive gets 60fps performance mode and more in latest update

Pacific Drive is a unique run-based, first-person driving survival game in which “your car is your only companion as you navigate a surreal and anomaly-filled reimagining of the Pacific Northwest”. Released back in February of this year, the indie game has already proved to be a hit, selling over 600,000 copies. One of the game’s few complaints was the lack of a 60fps mode on console – though this has now been added.

Making the announcement via a press release, the team at Ironwood Studios revealed Pacific Drive’s impressive sales figures alongside the announcement of a highly-welcome update, saying:

“Ironwood Studios today announced sales of Pacific Drive have exceeded 600,000 units globally. The debut title from the indie studio, published by Kepler Interactive, has received praise for its atmospheric storytelling and survival gameplay, establishing it as one of the first must-play indie hits of 2024. In addition to this achievement, a free content update and paid-for content pack are available as of today.”

Marking the first major patch for the game, this free content update most crucially brings with it the much-requested 60fps mode for PS5 players. That said, there is much more to look forward to regardless of your system of choice, as the update brings with it:

  • Photo Mode
  • Paintable Car Headlights and Light Parts
  • New Car Part – Juke Jet
  • New Garage Upgrades
  • Interactive Jukebox
  • Expanded Worldbuilding with new POIs and more
  • Bonus cosmetics

600,000 copies in just a few months is truly impressive, especially for the studio’s debut title (and considering the fact that it is only available on PS5 and PC). Hopefully Ironwood Studios has a long and smoothly-paved road ahead of them.
