Live-action Halo show officially cancelled by Paramount+

While Microsoft has seen massive success with the recent release of the Fallout TV show, the console maker’s other efforts in bringing its IPs to TV has not fared as well. Following two seasons and a middling reception, Paramount+ is officially cancelling its Halo TV show.

As published by TheHollywoodReporter, Paramount+ has made the decision to cancel the Halo TV show in the wake of its second season – which ended back in March.

Speaking on the partnership between Microsoft and itself, a Paramount+ representative shared the following statement:

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward.”

Interestingly, the legend of the Master Chief may continue yet, as Paramount are reportedly planning to shop the show around to other distributors for a potential 3rd season – though we will have to see whether anything comes from this.

The Halo TV show struggled heavily in its first season and seemingly was unable to win back audiences with its second. If a 3rd season does wind up happening, hopefully it’ll be a return to form.
