Last week, we reported on the overwhelming success of It Takes Two – the co-op title from Hazelight Studios (of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and A Way Out fame). For the past two years, Josef Fares and co. have been cooking up their next co-op adventure – the first details of which have now leaked.
Following the announcement last week that It Takes Two had officially sold over 20 million copies, the founder and Director of Hazelight Studios ‘Josef Fares’ took to Twitter to tease the team’s next project, saying:
“Getting a lot of questions about the next game. Here is a tease. It is a BRAND NEW IP called S**** ******N. Can’t wait to show it soon.”
While this was all we got at the time, known leaker billbil-kun revealed via Dealabs that “According to our information, the new game from the Hazelight studio will be called ‘Split Fiction’. The title has also been in development for at least 2 years.”
While no further direct details were shared, as with Fares’ prior titles the name likely holds a strong relevance to the game’s mechanics – meaning it almost certainly has something to do with the game’s split-screen implementation.
Each of Hazelight Studios’ successive games have been more creative than the last, and so it will be highly interesting to see what Fares and the team have been working on since their last GOTY winner.
