Spider-Man 2 is heading to PC sooner than expected, with the PS5 sequel landing on Steam in January 2025. While this is good news overall, it has also come with an unfortunate update from developer Insomniac. There will be no story DLC for Spider-Man 2.
Spider-Man 2 launched exclusively on PS5 just one year ago. While the sequel did garner positive reviews, it did not have the same level of impact as the original back in 2018 for the PS4. In 2023, Insomniac Games suffered a major data breach, which led to numerous leaks, including business plans, game builds and employee information.
“While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more”, Sony said on the PlayStation Blog.
It is possible that the impact of this leak led to plans for future Spider-Man 2 content being scrapped. The sooner than expected PC release could also be partially due to the fact that a bootleg PC version is already available, being developed by fans who obtained game files through the Insomniac leak.
Spider-Man 2 will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store starting on the 30th of January. Like all current PlayStation PC releases, the game will likely require a PSN account.
