Asus unveils new Chromebook line-up

Asus is revamping its Chromebook line-up this week with three new offerings. Firstly, we have the CX1 series, aimed at students and offering a low entry price of £229.99. In the mid-range, there is the CX5 series with prices starting at £599.99 and finally, we have the flagship Asus Chromebook, the CX9, priced at £1,299.99.

The CX1 series of Chromebooks come in 11-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch display option sizes, although we only have the specifications for the entry-level 11-inch model. This sub-£250 Chromebook comes equipped with a 720p display, an Intel Celeron N3350 dual-core processor and Intel HD 500 graphics, up to 64GB of eMMC storage and up to 8GB of LPDDR4 memory. For I/O, you get one USB 3.2 Type-A port and two USB Type-C ports with support for an external display and power delivery.

The CX5 series takes another step up, offering 15-inch and 14-inch display sizes, an Intel Core i3-1115G4 or Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor with Intel UHD Graphics on the Core i3 and Intel Xe graphics on the Core i5. Other specs include 8GB of LPDDR4 memory as standard, although you can upgrade to 8GB of LPDDR4X for a speed boost, storage gets an upgrade too, with up to a 256GB NVMe M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD.

Finally, we have the flagship Asus Chromebook CX9. This particular laptop packs an Intel Core i7-1165G7 quad-core processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics, a 14-inch touch-screen display with 1080p resolution and 100% sRGB coverage for professional work, up to 16GB of LPDDR4X memory and a 512GB NVMe M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD. The I/O is upgraded too, featuring two Thunderbolt 4 ports with support for power delivery and external displays.

The new Asus Chromebook series will be available starting from next month. The CX1 series will start at £229.99, the CX5 series will start at £599.99 and the CX9 is priced at £1,299.99. All models will be available through the Asus web store as well as other major retailers.
