EA is said to be working on a new Dead Space game

Dead Space is commonly seen as being one of EA’s best but forgotten franchises. The survival-horror sci-fi game saw a cult following, and while EA tried to capitalise on this success by making its sequels more and more mainstream, the franchise then started to lose what made it unique in the first place. Following the release of Dead Space 3 in 2013, little has been heard about the franchise – until now.

According to Jeff Grubb, EA will announce the revival of the Dead Space franchise at the publisher’s upcoming EA Play showcase on the 22nd of July. This rumour has since been corroborated by a number of sites, including EuroGamer and Gematsu. According to the latter, this revival will take the form of a reimagining of the franchise, and not a direct sequel.

This new reimagining is said to be developed by EA’s Motive Studio, founded originally by Jade Raymond (who is now working with PlayStation at Haven Studios). Motive Studio is known primarily for developing the well-received Star Wars: Squadrons – though they also assisted with the development of Battlefront II.

With the Dead Space franchise evolving over the course of its trilogy, going from a survival-horror game to a much more action-focused experience, it will be interesting to see what route Motive Studios is taking with this reimagining.
