Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Alan Wake Remastered heading to Epic Games Store

The Epic Games Store appears to have had a very significant backend update this week, adding two unannounced games to the store. The first is a remaster for Alan Wake, something that Remedy Entertainment has not formally announced, while the second game revealed is none other than Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Using the EpicData tracker, sleuths have found new references in Epic Games Store strings, one for a save file for Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PC, while the other is a directory path for Alan Wake Remastered.

This seems to appear PC versions for both games, although neither has been officially announced. It has been rumoured that Remedy Entertainment is working on a new Alan Wake sequel and given how much time has passed since the original game's release, a remaster makes a lot of sense.

In the case of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, it appears Epic Games will be continuing its timed-exclusivity deal with Square Enix. The two companies partnered up to bring the Kingdom Hearts series to EGS earlier this year, so seeing a second deal in place for Final Fantasy would not be surprising.

While E3 2021 has come to an end, there are multiple other gaming events set to take place over the summer, so we could see some official announcements soon.

KitGuru Says: Given that this information came straight from the Epic Games Store, it should be more trustworthy than other leaks. Are you looking forward to Final Fantasy 7 Remake finally coming to PC?
