After what feels like forever following the first mysterious reveal trailer all the way back at E3 2019, Elden Ring has finally resurfaced in an official capacity, not only showcasing gameplay for the first time, but also revealing a concrete releasing date, confirming that the game will be in the hands of players in January of 2022.
Geoff Keighley’s summer Game Fest Kick Off event has officially highlighted the start of E3 2021, and while the showcase featured many exciting announcements (including Death Stranding Director’s Cut) the most exciting reveal came right at the end.
Elden Ring, the upcoming game developed by FromSoftware was finally shown off, giving players a first look at the gameplay, including horse riding, exhilarating combat, multiple environments and more.
Anyone who is familiar with FromSoftware titles will immediately see the clear inspirations taken from the studio’s previous works. Elements from Dark Souls 1 through 3, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice all seem to be present both gameplay-wise and aesthetically, all-the-while elevating it further.
While gameplay for Elden Ring was an inevitable expectation, what was not expected was for FromSoftware to announce a full release date. Elden Ring will launch on the 21st of January 2022, just under 3 years after Sekrio. While official details are still light, SoulsBorne fans will no doubt be pouring over this latest trailer dissecting every frame and analysing exactly how FromSoftware has evolved the game over previous titles.
