Death Stranding Director’s cut officially announced

E3 2021 has officially begun with Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest Kick Off. One of the biggest announcements from the showcase was the official confirmation of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding Director’s Cut, adding new content which calls back to the director’s roots.

As part of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest Kick Off, the host took part in an online call with Hideo Kojima, who revealed that while he is not yet ready to show off his next major project, the director has been working on another title in the interim.

With that, Death Stranding Director's Cut was shown off. While few specifics were revealed, what was shown was entirely new content, with the game’s protagonist, Sam Porter Bridges infiltrating what looked to be an underground base filled with guards.

In a callback to Kojima’s previous works, Sam Bridges (in an attempt to pass by the guards) picked up a box and even hopped inside it – a clear homage to Metal Gear Solid – while also suggesting that this added content will focus on stealth elements.

While not much else was revealed, Death Stranding Director's Cut will be coming soon to PS5. While Kojima works on his next major project, it is interesting to be returning to the world of Death Stranding, seeing what else Kojima has to show off from that world.
