This week during Nintendo's E3 Direct stream, Shin Megami Tensei V re-appeared with a brand new trailer and more importantly, a final release date. As it turns out, leaks from earlier this month were correct, Shin Megami Tensei V will be releasing worldwide on the 11th of November.
Atlus announced Shin Megami Tensei V back in 2017, shortly after the Nintendo Switch originally came out. Later that year, the developers clarified that the game was in the prototype phase, indicating a lengthy road ahead. News on the game went silent after that, but it made a return last July with a proper trailer.
Now during E3, a new release date trailer has been released, giving us a better look at post-apocalyptic Tokyo:
Shin Megami Tensei V is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, putting players in the shoes of a student living in Tokyo who gets pulled into another dimension. In this new reality, Tokyo has been destroyed and demons are roaming around.
Combat is turn-based and there are some improvements compared to Persona 5 (Persona is a Shin Megami Tensei spin-off series). We can expect more gameplay and story details a bit closer to release.
KitGuru Says: I'm currently playing through Shin Megami Tensei 3 HD on the Switch in preparation for this. Have many of you played Shin Megami Tensei before? Will you be picking up the latest entry?
