One of the main highlights at Ubisoft's E3 showcase this year was the reveal of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Built for next-gen consoles and PC on an enhanced Snowdrop Engine, Ubisoft has now gone into a bit more detail on the technical side of the game.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora debuted with a ‘first look' trailer during E3. Now, Ubisoft has also uploaded a Snowdrop Engine showcase, giving us a behind the scenes look at the technology going into the game. The video seems to confirm ray-traced lighting for the game, enhanced AI for NPC characters and a huge bump in graphical fidelity that will really push Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC hardware.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora aims to feature Ubisoft's most immersive open-world to date, which hopefully means we'll finally see some new mechanics, as many open-world Ubisoft games tend to borrow a bit too much from each other.
Ubisoft Massive is currently working to bring this game out in late 2022, but we have yet to see gameplay, so it is difficult to tell how far into development the game really is. Either way, we'll be hearing much more about this game next year.
KitGuru Says: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora looks incredibly impressive but so far, we've only seen in-engine footage. The final game will look different running on a console or PC. Hopefully E3 2022 will bring about some gameplay.
