Free August PS Plus game announced at State of Play

At the recent PlayStation State of Play, the console manufacturer provided updates on a number of small and large upcoming titles including Death Stranding and SIFU. Accompanying these was the announcement for the console release of Hunter’s Arena: Legends, as well as confirmation that it will launch for free on PlayStation Plus next month.

Multiplayer titles have benefited in the past from launching day-and-date as a free game on PlayStation Plus. Rocket League, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout and more all launched as free PS Plus games – to major long-term success. The next game looking to see similar success is Hunters Arena: Legends.

Shown off at the recent State of Play showcase, Hunter’s Arena: Legends is a 30 player PvP & PvE combat-based Battle Royale set in ancient Asia. Unlike most Battle Royale games – which use guns as their main form of battle, Hunter’s Arena instead focuses on melee weapons.

Additionally, players can select from 17 different hunters, all of whom use different weapons and have different abilities. Following in the footsteps of other Battle Royale games however, Hunter’s Arena will offer Solo and Trio game modes, letting you partner up with friends (though there is also an atypical third mode called ‘tag match’).

Finding others to Play Hunter’s Arena: Legends hopefully shouldn't be too hard to do, as the game will be free on PlayStation Plus in August for both PS4 and PS5 players. Back in July 2020, Fall Guys was launched for free on PS Plus – quickly becoming the most downloaded game ever on the service. If Hunter’s Arena: Legends is able to capture a similar audience, then the game may have a long and healthy future ahead of it.
