CD Projekt Red acquires Digital Scapes to form new Vancouver studio

CD Projekt Red has previously revealed plans to expand its studios and begin working on multiple major projects at once. Part of that expansion has involved putting together a new studio in Vancouver, one of the bigger developer hub cities.

CD Projekt Red Vancouver has now formed, following on from the company's acquisition of Digital Scapes. For those who don't know, Digital Scapes is a Canadian studio that helped CD Project Red as a support studio on Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt Red announced plans to acquire Digital Scapes back in March 2021. Now that the deal has closed, the studio has been rebranded.

CD Projekt Red Vancouver joins the company's other main teams, both based in Poland at separate campuses. Speaking on the studio acquisition, CD Projekt Red's head of production and CTO, Paweł Zawodny, said (via Gamespot): “For three years we have been closely working together, and we trust them completely. Digital Scapes have put in a great deal of work during the making of Cyberpunk 2077, assisting with development of the game and optimizing its various features”.

“We believe that the hugely talented Digital Scapes crew is the perfect foundation upon which to build a wider CD Projekt Red Vancouver team.”

KitGuru Says: CD Projekt Red is continuing to grow, although it is going to be a long wait before we hear about anything not Cyberpunk 2077-related.
