Halo Infinite’s free to play multiplayer to include 23 maps at launch

Microsoft began publicly testing Halo Infinite multiplayer earlier this year with the first flight, which accidentally revealed a bunch of story spoilers buried within the game files. Now, we're starting to see leaks focusing more on the multiplayer side of the game, with the latest information pointing towards 23 maps in-game at launch.

According to Surasia, a dataminer on Twitter, Halo Infinite multiplayer will launch with 23 maps, all while being a completely free to play game. This information was shared in response to a tweet from the Call of Duty account, which boasted Vanguard's 20 available maps at launch this November.

Halo Infinite is due to release this December, but we'll have the opportunity to play it ourselves before then. The first flight has already been and gone, and while there was some hope for another playtest in September, it looks like 343 Industries is holding off for a bit longer in order to get things polished up.

According to Surasia, the next Halo Infinite flight test for Halo Insiders will be taking place in October, two months before launch. The full game, meaning the campaign and free to play multiplayer, will be releasing on the 8th of December for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

KitGuru Says: Halo Infinite multiplayer appears to be starting off with a great base and it will only grow over time. New seasons could include new maps to keep things fresh and then, when Forge mode eventually makes it into the game, we'll see a slew of custom fan-made maps too.
