There has been a lot of speculation around Microsoft bringing Xbox Game Pass to other console platforms over the years. The Nintendo Switch in particular has been at the forefront of these rumours, possibly with an xCloud powered version of Game Pass for the handheld console. Unfortunately, for the time being, the service will be remaining on Xbox consoles and PC only.
During an interview with GamesRadar, Xbox head, Phil Spencer, was asked about the possibility of Game Pass on other platforms. Usually, Spencer would give a more open ended statement about Microsoft being open to those opportunities, but things appear to have changed. For the first time, Spencer has ruled out Game Pass on other consoles entirely.
Here is the quote: “We have no plans to bring it to any other kind of closed platforms right now, mainly because those closed platforms don’t want something like Game Pass. There’s a ton of open platforms out there for us to grow in: the web, PC, and mobile. So all of our focus, frankly, is on those platforms.”
While we won't be seeing Game Pass on a Nintendo Switch or PlayStation anytime soon, Microsoft is working to bring the service to more devices through xCloud. This year, Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming finally came to iOS and PC, and there are plans for a Smart TV app, or possibly a streaming stick, which may be revealed before the end of the year.

KitGuru Says: Getting Game Pass on a Switch or PlayStation console always seemed like a far-fetched idea, although it would greatly help with bringing more Triple A games to Nintendo's platform in particular.
