Doom Eternal horde mode and revamped multiplayer coming next week

While id Software may have wrapped up work on Doom Eternal's campaign some time ago, the team has still been working on overhauling the game's multiplayer. Later this month, Doom Eternal will finally get a horde mode, as well as a revamped ‘Battlemode' for multiplayer.

The new horde mode entered development shortly after id Software decided to scrap Eternal's planned ‘invasion' mode, which would allow players to take control of a powerful demon within another player's campaign run. It was a neat idea, but ultimately, the team cancelled this mode in favour of a more traditional horde mode.

Doom Eternal's upcoming update will also introduce a revamped ‘Battlemode', the 2v1 multiplayer mode that launched with the game. Players can expect a new arena, new rewards and other items.

Horde mode and changes to the Battlemode will be implemented in Doom Eternal with its next patch, releasing on the 26th of October.
