While Death Stranding saw Norman Reedus take the role of playable character Sam Porter Bridges, for many, it was the performance of antagonist Mads Mikkelsen which stole the show. Hideo Kojima clearly thinks so too, as he has announced that he wishes to make a new game with Mikkelsen as the lead this time.
Taking to Twitter to air his thoughts, Hideo Kojima said “I have a number of ideas that I want to create with Mads as the main character. I once explained one of them to Mads. He listened intently, but when I told him the title, he broke his face. He seemed to think I was joking. I was serious, though. The tentative title was MADS MAX.”
With rumours that Kojima is working on a sequel to Death Stranding, as well as being involved with a potential survival horror title – and more – it is interesting to see the game director planning beyond these games.
Mads Mikkelsen is a Danish BAFTA nominated actor, known best perhaps for his work on Hannibal; Dr Strange; Casino Royale, and of course Death Stranding.
While it is unlikely that MADS MAX will ever come to fruition, it is interesting to see that the next new IP from Kojima could see Mads Mikkelsen take the role of the playable protagonist.
