Intel Core i9-12900K benchmark leak puts it above any other consumer-grade CPU

More alleged benchmark results of the Intel Core i9-12900K have surfaced. Until now, we only had a multi-core score on Cinebench R23 and the Ashes of the Singularity benchmark result, but the latest leaks add single-core scores of two benchmarks to the mix.

The results shared by HXL come from Cinebench, while APISAK shared the SiSoftware Sandra entry. While we don't have full specifications for the system that ran the CInebench R20/23 benchmark, the SiSoft Sandra benchmark was running on a system featuring an ASRock Z690 Phantom Gaming 4 motherboard.

It's worth mentioning that the SiSoftware Sandra reported the processor as having 32x threads, which is wrong. The Core i9-12900K is expected to come with 16x cores and 24x threads, from which only 8x cores feature HT. The listing also lists the clock frequencies as 4.88GHz/5.2GHz and 3.6GHz/4.7GHz, which we assume to be the operating frequencies of each core cluster, with the former being the big cores and the latter being the small cores.

Starting with the SiSoftware Sandra results, the Core i9-12900K scored 1414Mpix/s in multimedia, which is significantly lower than the 2K scores that the Ryzen 9 5950X CPUs can easily achieve. This difference in scores led APISAK to question if the small cores were disabled, but the difference could also be down to clock speeds. As for the Cinebench results, the upcoming Intel processor scored 81x in R20 and 205x in R23. These results are about 25% higher than a typical Ryzen 9 5950X running at stock settings, and 20% higher than a Core i9-11900K, which is currently the fastest single-core scorer in both R20 and R23 benchmarks.

KitGuru says: These results can't be confirmed yet as Intel has yet to sample its upcoming Alder Lake-S processors to reviewers. Still, it should give us an idea of what to expect at launch in a couple of months time.
