World of Warcraft’s expansion pre-patch arrives on July 24th

Blizzard is about to kick off a new era for World of Warcraft with The War Within, the first in a trilogy of expansions that will explore a new story arc. Ahead of the expansion's launch in August, players will get a pre-patch with a new event to play so you can gear up for the new expansion content.

The new event will have players battling across three zones in 90-minute cycles, although the cycle timer will be sped up in the weeks ahead to help late-comers catch up. During these events, old bosses will return as ‘echoes' for you to fight.

The pre-patch will also bring two new features, Warbands and Skyriding. Skyriding is simple, it is dragonriding but recreated to work with more kinds of flying mounts. Warbands on the other hand is a little newer, giving players access to little camps with all of their characters displayed in them.

Being in a Warband unlocks additional features like the Warband bank, and you get access to Warbound gear, which you can then easily share across your alt characters, so you can speed up progression across your roster.

There will be more features and content to come when The War Within officially drops on the 26th of August. The pre-patch arrives on the 24th of July.
