Final Fantasy 16’s long-awaited PC version uncovered in latest Nvidia drivers

Nvidia rolled out its latest Game Ready driver this week, introducing additional game optimisation profiles, and bug fixes. It would seem that the most exciting addition was hidden from view, as the latest drivers contain a profile for the upcoming PC version of Final Fantasy 16.

Through datamining, folks on r/nvidia found a profile for Final Fantasy 16, which includes mention a demo and the full game. We've known Final Fantasy 16 has been in development for PC since last year, but so far, Square Enix has been quiet on a release date. This latest find indicates that a launch is just around the corner.

Interestingly, this pops up just weeks ahead of Gamescom, so we could very well end up seeing the PC version officially announced there during Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live event. As this profile has been found early in an Nvidia driver, this indicates that Nvidia is working with Square Enix for this launch, which means we should expect features like DLSS 2/3 and ray-tracing.

Earlier this year, Final Fantasy 16's Producer confirmed that the PC version was in the ‘final stages' of development but did not offer up a release date or window. With the way things are currently moving, that announcement should be coming very soon. If not at Gamescom, then at the Tokyo Game Show in September, which Square Enix always participates in.

KitGuru Says: Final Fantasy 16 is my favourite game in the franchise. The combat is much improved over Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy VII Remake and I do enjoy the more story-focused approach with constant hectic battles. It isn't the longest game in the series, but to me, that is a bonus.
