Lexar is expanding its SSD line-up with a new PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 M.2 SSD – the NM800. This is set to be Lexar's new flagship, offering maximum read/write speeds of up to 7400MB/s and 5800MB/s.
Aimed at gamers and creators, the new Lexar NM800 is joining the ranks of other high-speed PCIe 4.0 SSDs. According to Techx (via TechPowerUp), the Lexar NM800 features LDPC (Low-Density Parity Check) for added reliability and uses a simple heat dissipation label to cool the drive. The latter, however, can be easily improved by mounting a heatsink on the SSD.
The Lexar NM800 will be available with 512GB or 1TB of storage. The 512GB model features a maximum sequential read/write speed of 7,000/3,000MB/s and a random read/write throughput of 200K/550K IOPS. The 1TB model is slightly faster, offering a maximum sequential read/write speed of 7,400/5800MB/s and a random read/write throughput of 400K/750K IOPS. The rated endurance of the 512GB model is set at 250TBW, while the 1TB drive sets it at 500TBW.
Both SSDs have an MTBF (mean time between failures) of 1.5M hours and a DWPD (Drive writes per day) of 0.44. The 512GB model is expected to be available for €99 and the 1TB model for €179.
